Anti dermatophytic therapy: prospects for the discovery of new drugs from natural products BJM
Soares,Luciana Arantes; Sardi,Janaína de Cássia Orlandi; Gullo,Fernanda Patrícia; Pitangui,Nayla de Souza; Scorzoni,Liliana; Leite,Fernanda Sangalli; Giannini,Maria José Soares Mendes; Almeida,Ana Marisa Fusco.
Millions of people and animals suffer from superficial infections caused by a group of highly specialized filamentous fungi, the dermatophytes, which only infect keratinized structures. With the appearance of AIDS, the incidence of dermatophytosis has increased. Current drug therapy used for these infections is often toxic, long-term, and expensive and has limited effectiveness; therefore, the discovery of new anti dermatophytic compounds is a necessity. Natural products have been the most productive source for new drug development. This paper provides a brief review of the current literature regarding the presence of dermatophytes in immunocompromised patients, drug resistance to conventional treatments and new anti dermatophytic treatments.

Anti-inflammatory activity of propolis extracts: a review J. Venom. Anim. Toxins
Almeida,E. C. de; Menezes,H..
Since primeval times, the inflammatory process has been described in many different ways. Several anti-inflammatory therapies have been used in different biological models. However, in a recent "back to nature move", modern man is searching for natural products with medicinal properties, particularly those obtained from plants and bees. Propolis has been used in folk medicine for a very long time. The many compounds present in propolis require investigation.Physical-chemical analysis studies have not sufficiently established quality standards of propolis containing products. These standards should depend especially on their different pharmacological activities. There are few studies reporting on the in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of propolis...

MORENO-CABRERIZO,CRISTINA; ORTEGA-MARTÍNEZ,AITOR; MOLINA,CYNTHIA; NÁJERA,CARMEN; SANSANO,JOSÉ M..
ABSTRACT The synthesis of 3,3-disubstituted N-methyloxindoles, starting from 3-acetyl-2-hydroxy-1-methyloxindole employing a sequential one-pot synthesis, is studied. The process involves a first alkylation in the presence of 1 equiv. of both organic halide and Triton B and the second one employs another 1.5 equiv. of each in moderate to high yields. This procedure is compared with the results obtained from the direct dialkylation of N-methyloxindole. The metathesis of one of the corresponding diallylated product was also studied obtaining the spiranic oxindole. All these methodologies are directed towards the access to anticancer agents and natural biologically active products.

Etude de nouvelles cibles moleculaires de cancer bronchopulmonaire non a petites cellules pharmacomodulées par des substances originales naturelles et synthetiques ArchiMer
Moreau, Dimitri.
Still rare disease at the beginning of the 20th century, the lung cancer is at the origin of more than 6 % of the deaths in France currently. It occupies there the first rank of the deaths by cancer whereas France is regarded as a country at the average risk among the Western countries. The discovery of new anti-cancer treatments increasingly more effective and specific, is thus today of primary importance. The validation of the capacity of a molecule to being able to inhibit the cancerous proliferation, passes by several stages of tests starting with the description of an activity at the cellular level. One of the strategies used for the discovery of new compounds antiproliferativs, passes by an investigation of the bioactiv potential of a great number...
